CBI Intelligence Privacy Policy
For Users of the CBI Platform
Effective March 2026
CBI Intelligence is committed to the highest standards of data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, and public health. Our AI-powered Collaborative Business Intelligence platform is purpose-built for mission-critical water systems in healthcare facilities, commercial buildings, industrial operations, public utilities, maritime vessels, and critical infrastructure. It protects potable water networks, cooling towers, hot and cold distribution systems, wastewater operations, and premise plumbing while ensuring full regulatory compliance with all applicable water quality standards and norms.
Data We Collect
We collect only the minimum data required for effective water quality intelligence:
- Real-time water quality parameters (temperature, pH, flow rates, disinfectant residuals, conductivity, stagnation indicators)
- System performance metrics from sensors and integrated treatment technologies
- Inputs for microbial risk forecasting
- User authentication, session data, and secure collaboration records
- Automated compliance documentation and audit logs
AI Pathogen Modeling
Our proprietary AI engine uses machine learning, neural networks, and time-series forecasting to analyze temperature, pH, flow rates, disinfectant levels, stagnation time, conductivity, and climate variables. It predicts colonization risks for Legionella, E. coli, Pseudomonas, Mycobacterium, and other opportunistic pathogens days or weeks in advance, with accuracy exceeding 93% (far surpassing traditional models at ~83%).
Legionella Risk Details
Legionella bacteria represent the most serious and persistent threat in building water systems. Growth dynamics follow a clear biological pattern: the bacteria multiply most rapidly in warm, stagnant water between 77°F and 113°F (25°C–45°C), with peak proliferation around 95°F–108°F (35°C–42°C). Below 68°F (20°C) growth slows dramatically; above 122°F (50°C) the bacteria are rapidly inactivated. Legionella thrives inside protective biofilm matrices on pipe walls, rubber gaskets, and fixtures, where it is shielded from disinfectants, temperature swings, and flow shear. Even brief periods of stagnation (as little as 24–48 hours) combined with low disinfectant residuals allow exponential growth. The platform’s AI models explicitly simulate these dynamics, detecting early colonization conditions and issuing targeted alerts before concentrations reach actionable levels.
CDC Water Guidelines Overview
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides comprehensive water management guidance to prevent waterborne outbreaks. Key 2026 updates emphasize shifting from written plans to active, continuous monitoring and documented control measures. Highlights include temperature control, disinfectant residual monitoring, Legionella sampling with defined action levels, expanded pathogen scope, and mandatory Water Management Programs (WMPs) across healthcare, hospitality, maritime, and multifamily sectors.
Biofilm Formation Risks
Biofilm is a primary threat in water systems. It creates protective matrices that shield pathogens from disinfectants and flow, enabling rapid regrowth. The platform explicitly models biofilm-prone conditions, including elevated temperatures, stagnation, and organic loading, to deliver early warnings and support targeted interventions before microbial reservoirs form.
Climate Impact on Water Systems
Climate change exacerbates risks through rising water temperatures, extreme weather events, flooding, and drought-induced stagnation. These factors accelerate biofilm formation, corrosion, scaling, and pathogen growth. Our models integrate climate variables to help users anticipate and mitigate these evolving threats.
How We Use Your Data
Data is used exclusively to:
- Deliver predictive analytics and Water Quality Index (WQI) dashboards
- Generate early-warning alerts and risk scores
- Support automated Water Management Programs
- Enable real-time collaboration and chemical-free optimization
- Provide cybersecurity monitoring for critical infrastructure
Security & Cybersecurity
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. The platform features advanced anomaly detection, proactive threat monitoring, role-based access controls, and ERP integration tailored for water infrastructure protection.
ASHRAE 188 & Regulatory Compliance
The platform is specifically engineered to support full compliance with ASHRAE Standard 188 (Legionellosis: Risk Management for Building Water Systems) and all other applicable water quality regulations and norms, including CDC guidelines, CMS requirements, the Vessel Sanitation Program, and equivalent international standards. It automates and simplifies every required element of a compliant Water Management Program (WMP):
- Establishment and documentation of a dedicated water management team
- Creation and maintenance of detailed system flow diagrams mapping all water sources and end-use points
- Comprehensive risk assessments identifying locations where Legionella and other pathogens can grow and spread
- Definition of control limits (temperature, disinfectant residuals) with continuous monitoring
- Documented corrective actions, verification procedures, and validation testing
- Automated, tamper-proof logging of all activities with mandatory retention periods
This enables organizations to move beyond static written plans to active, continuously monitored, and fully auditable WMPs that meet or exceed current and evolving regulatory expectations across all relevant jurisdictions.
Regulatory Compliance
CBI Intelligence aligns with global privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA), water-specific standards (ASHRAE 188, CDC, CMS, Vessel Sanitation Program), and WCAG 2.2 accessibility requirements. Data is retained only as long as necessary for operational, predictive, and compliance purposes, with automated deletion protocols.
Important Limitations and User Responsibilities
The CBI Intelligence platform is an advisory and predictive support tool. It does not replace professional laboratory testing, physical inspections, regulatory audits, or any user obligations.
Users remain fully and solely responsible for:
- Reviewing and verifying all platform outputs
- Performing required laboratory analyses and sampling
- Conducting regular physical inspections for biofilm and scaling
- Implementing control measures and corrective actions
- Maintaining compliance with ASHRAE 188, CDC, CMS, and all applicable regulations
- Ensuring public health and operational safety
While our models achieve high accuracy, predictions may contain errors due to real-world variability or unforeseen conditions. The platform provides information and guidance only and is not a substitute for certified laboratories, professional consultants, or the user’s ultimate accountability. CBI Intelligence disclaims all liability for decisions based on platform outputs.
Your Rights and Consent
By using the platform, you consent to the secure processing of data solely for water quality intelligence, public health protection, regulatory compliance, and critical infrastructure security. You may access, correct, or request deletion of your data at any time (subject to legal and operational requirements).
